Machias to Receive $100,000 for Runway Rehabilitation
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Mike Michaud, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, praised the announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is providing $100,000 to Machias for improvements at the Machias Valley Airport. According to USDOT, the funding will be used for the rehabilitation of the airport’s runway, which is needed to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.
“I’m pleased this funding has been approved by the FAA,” said Michaud. “It will help improve safety and allow the airport to better serve its customers. Upgrading our infrastructure is critical to moving our nation forward and creating a sustainable economic recovery.”
